There a two types of goals: subjective and objective. Subjective involves you setting a general goal such as "loose weight for new year", whilst objective goals are more specific and timed such as " I want to loose 1kg by the end of January. Objective goals are more specific and make it more likely for a person to follow. So when setting your new year resolutions make sure you set objective goals!! A good acronym to aid setting objective goals is SMART.
S - specific
M - measurable
A - achievable
R - realistic
T - time-based
